Acro dance merges classical dance techniques with elements of gymnastics, tumbling and basic contortion. Acro is a dance-based art meant to complement a student’s dance training and students will learn acrobatic tricks such as elbow stands, handstands, walkovers, cartwheels, chest rolls, side and front aerials, and tumbling. Unlike in gymnastics, Acro Dance emphasizes a slower pace of movement that emphasizes gracefulness, body lines, and extension.
Note: Acro dancers must be enrolled in at least one other class as acro is a supplementary style that is not meant to stand alone in performance. For level II and up, the additional class must be ballet or jazz.
